Antiwork

I follow this sub because I get there are a lot of shitty working conditions out there, and a lot of shitty employers that expect ridiculous things from from employees. In that respect, I get the purpose of this sub and support it. A lot of exploiters (autocorrect changed “employers” to “exploiters” but I’m actually going to leave it…) should fuck right off with their expectations and shitty work conditions. But I see a common thread here recently that I think delegitimizes the antiwork movement… I see a lot of posts here that effectively boil down to “it’s too cold, and I don’t want to do my job because of that”. All I have to say is give me a freaking break. Has it been quite cold in many places in the US recently, yes. However, it no where near as cold as it is regularly in many places where…

There is a saying that is common in order to go ahead in the work place. It's not what you know, it's who you know. Networking plays a huge role, but it seems too it leaves out people who have a lot of potential but get left out because they weren't friends. I think career advancement has become a joke since the 2007 financial crisis. I graduated in 2008 from college and later for grad school in 2019. I worked on myself all these years to get noticed and interviews and I've been employed in one position for a local company though getting promoted. I've seen people who are less than qualified for positions they got. Work now doesn't even support getting a mortgage or even renting an apartment is insane. I'm grateful to live with family, but I'm getting tired of it. Is anyone sick of playing this game?…

I know managers get shat on a lot by the people they manage and deservedly so however we should give the good managers recognition. And the direct managers I have are pretty awesome. The pay sucks though(not worth risking my life or car for) and corporate is a bitch(I work retail). I called off yesterday and today and informed my managers I would not be in. Sample: “Hey Big boss man it's Fox, I won't be in today.” No questions asked about why, though the weather probably made it apparent as that’s why. They just acknowledged it and moved onto managing. I wish more managers were like this when I read through this sub and wish more managers read this sub to learn what not to do.

Looking for recommendations on worker's rights and income inequality focused non-profits! In the past I've donated to union GoFundMe' directly during strikes, but I'm hoping to find an organization that's focused on these issues more long-term than an individual strike. I've found a few charities that are hyper-local, which isn't my preference but would still donate to if I knew they were a really awesome group. I've found another few worker's rights groups mainly focused on justice for minorities or immigrants, which is also great, but I'm trying to see if I can find something more broad. Other best approach may be to focus on areas that alleviate basic hardships for low-income folks like housing and food. I plan to do this as well but would be great to donate to a charity tackling one of the root issues if I can.

Just like the title said. I guess I made this post just to get out in touch with the community. What were you guys doing this year? You were made to look like like a bunch of morons who killed the sub out of cringe.
