My company requires employees to attend a quarterly meeting where they reveal that once again, for the ____ quarter in a row, the company’s revenue has increased by several percentage points. In my 18 months of employment I have received one raise of about 3%. Last year my department was given an opportunity to earn a Christmas bonus by completing a bunch of ridiculous metrics, which we actually managed to do. This year we achieved the same and received nothing 🙂 I would really love to be able to honestly ask the people running this company – what incentive have you given me to help your business grow? In fact, what incentive have you given me to do anything besides try to get my paycheck for as little labor as I can?

Hey guys, Please don’t make this post into a gender war. But I’m really curious. Less and less men are going to college. So how are they making more money than women when women are more college educated ?? ***warning: please do not make this post about wage gap/gender war. I’m just trying to understand how men are able to get high earning jobs without degrees.

So, due to the snow storm I am unable to get to work as I don't have transportation. I called my work yesterday to tell them I couldn't come in and they said “oh, we can send someone to pick you up.” I thought that was reasonable and said that's fine. They told me they would be there to pick me up and I said ok thanks. So pick up time rolls around and nothing. No one shows up, no one calls to tell me they'll be late, nothing. I waited outside in 8°F degree weather for 15 minutes and nothing, so I decided to go back inside. It's past time for me to be there and I'm actually scared ill lose my job. Anyone have any tips or anything?

The company handbook reads time off must be approved “at least one week ahead of time” Is this a grey area? I gave them 32 days of notice. Can they fire me for still going? If I have someone who said they are willing to cover for me but they still deny me, can I still go or will I lose my job? I’ve called out sick before twice. Boss has spoken highly of me but still gets extremely pissed when I call off sick more than two days in a row. Will be gone for three. Thoughts, opinions, insight, and experience would be heavily appreciated.
