ohh poor Bob Cratchet
Everyone feels sorry for Bob Cratchet because Scrooge made him work a half day on Christmas Eve. Too bad modern employers aren't as generous as a greedy victorian miser
I currently work for a regional airline and this past week was a literal week from hell due to cancellations and delays. I have had passengers yell, scream, threaten, and pull stupid as shit to see what I can do for them. Worst case scenario, we can’t get open seats to any destination regardless of airline until after Monday. (If you are stuck at an airport, I wish you good luck and hang in there) I’m overworked (40+ hours) , very underpaid, and about to quit just because of passengers and management at my airline treating employees like literal slaves. I was at the point of tears due to everything that has happened. My 67 year old father was literally heartbroken over me telling him that I was done with my job that I wanted to quit yesterday. I had worked in retail environments for the past five years. I…
I don’t think I can do this much longer…
I’m confident that I’m a strong person. I’ve survived a terrible car accident, a fentanyl addiction, a Xanax addiction and everything in between. I moved up north and was in a happy relationship for a while, but I hated the area and my relationship fell apart. I moved back down and everything started to fall into place. I was working out, eating healthy, going to therapy and overall I was just trying everything possible to take care of myself. After a couple months I finally had to start working again. Some personal issues happened at home and I needed a job asap. I started driving for Amazon. I feel like this job has put me in a worse place than before I moved back home. It’s only been three months since I started here and it gets worse everyday. It’s so blatantly obvious that they don’t care about us and…
Why SHOULD we want to work?
Many bosses I've had have no friends, hate their wives, hate their kids, etc. I'm sorry (not sorry) I'm happier than them and have people I want to spend time with. I've been hanging out with a new girl and she's more fun than anything I've ever done at a job. My friends are more interesting than anyone I've ever worked with. My hobbies are more fulfilling than anything I was allowed to accomplish on a job. Jobs are miserable time vampires, and outside of some awful people trying to ruin it for everyone, the past 20~30 years was probably the best time in history to be alive. No polio or smallpox to worry about, still much room for improvement but likely the most equality in history, more movies and video games than ever, ability to travel, availability of food/drinks from around the world, etc. Gotta admit, the 50s (and…
Ew I work for dominos
Handing in resignation
I was working with a horrible toxic workplace for the last 8 months. I was on a 38hour contract, working 50- 60 hours a week (unpaid overtime). To get Christmas holidays was like r)the end of the world (I managed to squeeze two out of him). For the last two weeks rhe entire office was working till 10,11,12pm to finish crazy deadlines our boss put to be finished before Christmas, while he traveled back to his home country. 2/3 of the office are unpaid interns, whose work just won him a few hundred thousand euros. My boss micromanages so much that he once phoned a girl who he thought I am dating (I am), to ask if we are dating – she doesn't even work with us. Before going on holiday I was offered a position with a higher salary, lower working hours and paid overtime. I have to hand in…
I had previously called out a couple days and my boss said I had to get a doctors note for HR to get put back on the schedule, I had currently been taken off the schedule for the current week. I don't know how I was going to get some doctors note for the days I had called out sick,I don't even have a primary doctor, but that's just some background details. The main problem started when he asked me to come in and work Thanksgiving at 10am (after making the request for a doctors note to be put back on the regular schedule). Had to walk 6 miles to work because the city bus is shut down on holidays. Worked the first half of the day and he said I could head out to see my family for dinner. When my check showed up, it was short a bunch…
