I work at a veterinary hospital with a surgery service. We are an incredibly busy service with fantastic doctors. I’ve been a part of this team for a number of years now. It is to be said I am very low on the totem pole, but I’m lucky to have fought for a livable wage. Recently we have added an additional surgeon to our service. While also losing quite literally half of our tech staff due to burnout. We have had open tech positions since I have started working at this place. I overheard a conversation with our hiring director saying, “people just aren’t applying for tech positions. People don’t want to work anymore. It’s a very different work force these days.” The veterinary field is riddled with issues to begin with. But organizations giving poor pay to skilled workers only exacerbates the problem. As with any field I suppose.…

My neighbor got a week off I believe unpaid as a delivery driver for Amazon. I just received an email saying we are sorry your package that should have been here yesterday might be here on the 26th. I don’t have allot of knowledge about all of this but it seems a bit shitty for everyone but bezos.
manager made me shovel out his car
If I didn't he said I was getting fired. All because I took a 20 minute break after the entire night. it's 10 degrees outside and now I'll prob be sick for Christmas. Sidenote : he said I have to be back tomorrow. This is mostly a rant but what can I do about the shoveling?
Red flags or am I paranoid?
For the record, I'm 30 and have been working a mix of retail, bar, and contractor since I was 16. I'm not lacking exsperice in “entry level” jobs. Not going to reveal the place for obvious reasons. My job interview was for LAST Thursday at 9am. I show up 10 minutes early and the place isn't open, that's fine. I go back to my car and wait. Every 10 minutes I check the door and it's still locked. 9:00 I text the person who set up the interview when I got there that I had arrived, 9:15 letting him know the doors were locked I was unable to enter the building, and then at 9:40 letting him know I was going home. I mentioned to let me know if he wanted to schedule another interview. I got a text from a different number at 8pm claiming to be the hiring…
Basically the title. I had approved off at my restaurant job the 22-26 but the weather has prohibited me from traveling until today, the 24th. I was scheduled a double on Tuesday but off the entire day Wednesday. I should mentioned they definitely fucked me on hours. A double on Tuesday, closing both lunch AND dinner. And a double on New Years Eve AND New Years Day. Like we are not short-staffed, there’s no reason for this especially since NY is historically dead slow. To be fair, it’s a restaurant job and they’re a dime a dozen. If I get fired, it’s not the end of the world. But would it be unreasonable to call off? I’d be back for my next scheduled shift on Thursday. And still work my ridiculous double double shifts for the weekend. ETA: I have put out feelers for people to cover and have even…
