I’ve been mostly unemployed for almost a year after fracturing my spine at the end of November last year (epileptic seizure.) I used to be a preschool teacher and an office administrator before the pandemic, now I’m going back to school in a few months to get my child development degree and return to preschool teaching. I’ve been doing Grubhub since 3 months after I fractured my spine. Now I’m trying to get an hourly position, and I’ve been struggling to get one. I interviewed for a waitressing job at Denny’s and they asked me where I saw myself in 5 years and what my future plans were, and I told them that I was returning to school for Child Development. I didn’t get the job. Now, I have an interview at McDonalds today, and I’m worried that THEY’RE going to ask me the same question. Everybody keeps telling me…
I work at a dog kennel so I understand that they need to be taken care of. That I’m not complaining about. But it just sucks that I only get paid 14 dollars an hour, 21 on holidays and my boss over stuffs the kennels for profit. So not only are the dogs in smaller areas than they should be, but we’re overworked. Last year my boss had dogs waiting out in the snow for spots to open up. I feel embarrassed telling people where I work. But I love the animals I work with (and the cats that are rescues there) and don’t want to quit.
Police Unions
I find it very telling that we live in a country (USA) which constantly tries to suppress unionizing while every single cop in the same country is covered by a union. Do we hear of mass layoffs at police stations? Does shooting someone in cold blood lead to being fired? Do they every have to worry about losing their benefits or healthcare, etc.? This should tell us everything we need to know about the power and importance of a union.
You people are self centered, unrealistic, and idiotic. You shouldn’t have to play yr part, give value to others, to survive? Okay, you need food and shelter to survive right? Well who’s going to build that house for you, produce the electricity, deliver gas to your house? Slaves?? Are all those people forced to do this work for you, for nothing in return? And food. You think farmers should be forced to get this produce food, deliver it too stores, then store workers and cashiers all allow you to take it home, for nothing in return? All those people doing all that work, for nothing? You people don’t have a right to force others to give you food, shelter, medical treatment, property, nothing. Doctors went to school for 8 years and put in hard work to learn medical knowledge, but a simply shmuck thinks they have rights to force that…
I just sent my resignation letter
