I gotta rant about employers lying
I am at work now. I took on a care job as the company I also do care work for lied about having full time hours for casual workers. This new care job asked if I could work nights at the clients house. I said I could if I was able to sleep. They said I’d be able to sleep fine. They made it sound chill like the person would be sleeping most of the time and I just needed to be there in case something happened. Well they lied and the person stays up all night playing music, needs help constantly, needs me to sit in the room with them periodically. I have another job that starts at 9am and it’s 4am and I haven’t slept at all. They knew I had another job right after and they didn’t tell me anything. On the bright side I did send…

Help my work is a biohazard.
I work in an office that has been adamant on having people in the building right all the way back from the beginning of covid. As a a result the rate of illness in the office has been high, like crazy high, at one point 60% of staff were off sick. They follow the laws (UK) but the laws are daft, we have people positive with covid working a few metres away from immunocompromised people but it’s ok because they’re wearing a face a mask. Credit to my work they have spent a lot of money on hand sanitizer, anti-bac wipes and cleaners coming in twice a day but it’s not stopped anything. This brings us the BS of the situation the absence policy. Currently once you have passed probation (6 month) if you have 3 instances of absence in a 12 month period it’ll be a written warning a…

My job is making me do OT on my birthday
I know a lot of people are going to scoff at this but I need to get it out there. I work 2nd shift(2:30pm-11pm) at a factory in my hometown which manufactures metal wire. It’s boring, tedious work. It’s ridiculously hot all the time and extremely tiring, both physically and mentally. I have had plans for my 20th birthday(which falls on a Sunday) for a month. We were supposed to be going shooting, then to a really nice restaurant, and definitely not drinking since I’m not old enough for that. Now, my work is telling me I have to work OT that day. Specifically, of the three sections that we have in our factory, ONLY mine is working. I understand the business has needs, things need to be done and work needs to be completed, but that being said my manager and supervisors have known about my plans for 2…
My spouse and I just closed on a house earlier this week. Before closing we were assured that my spouse would be able to continue their WFH job at the new location. Two days after closing, we were told that would not be the case. Their employer provided a letter stating they could work from home for part of our loan documents, but it does not specify a location. Can we do anything about this?
