Question about Partner’s Job
Not sure if this is the right place but I’ll give it a shot. So here it goes. My girlfriend works as a cosmetologist in Houston, Texas. Apparently many of these places have a rule that you cannot work for another salon with a certain mile radius of the place you currently work for. One of her coworkers, single mom, took another job as a stylist anyway and has just been found out (conflicting schedules led to some missed shifts). So the owner of the shop deduces that this is happening and wants concrete information. The owner and the manager corners my girlfriend in the break room, blocking the door out, and starts grilling her about her coworker’s activities. My girlfriend states that, yes, she did know because she’s had to cover numerous shifts for the coworker. The boss and manager apparently did this to everyone else as well the…
I worked for a solar company in Texas. Long story short, they terminated me, my manger said i was going to get my back end pay and the install bonus's that happened during my tenure. Come January, turns out they are reneging. I already went to the Texas Workforce Commission and filed, my friend was also telling me to go to the Department of Labor and get the Feds involved. Anything else I can do?
Job get is a data mining company
I was stupid enough to think this person was my friend. But she turned vindictive and started harassing me really badly. This woman has some serious issues and will do anything to throw me under the bus. Anyway, I think she told my manager I have ADHD. I actually don't care that much, but what pisses me off is that she did it to hurt me. It's not like she was concerned about my well-being. This bitch will tear up anyone she perceives as a threat. Somehow, I managed to get on her shit list. Is it illegal for an employee to tell a manager private medical about another employee without their permission? I'm thinking about going to the EEOC.
full time working and parenting… how?
I started working full time and it's beyond hard, waking up before everyone in the house, walking the dog, making my lunch, driving to work, coming back, picking up my kid from school, making dinner, cleaning up from dinner, entertaining my kid, giving him a bath, putting him to bed And repeat…how do parents who work full time do it? (by school I mean daycare, kid is 3.5, so it's not free)
I’m sitting here having a coffee at work (12-hour shift on a Sunday, I’m over it), and gave some thought to a lot of the common themes on here (low pay, unreal expectations etc) and I think someone probably smarter than me can explain what the hell is the end-game? I mean if you think about it, there’s the employer wants: ALL the productivity ALL the profits Pay as little as possible If it’s in their (company’s) best interests and they think they can get away with it, they’ll try. There’s more I’m missing but those would’ve been in the top 5 I think. Then I thought about where that leads, and it only seems to end in everything drying up (and I’m going to future extremes here): The trend of paying less but expecting more, no one has enough to afford to go to work let alone buy any…
