I don’t play childish games. If you feel some type of way, say it. I get it. I ask a lot of questions because I don’t want to mess up with work. I leave early because that’s what I agreed to accepting this job. If I’m needed, tell me. I don’t need to assume how everyone feels about me. Say it. I confronted them and talked it out but I just don’t like it there anymore. I’ve been job hopping these past 3 years and I don’t want to leave but the work environment is just gross. What should I do?
Advice for how to proceed
Im sorry in advance if this is too vague. My so is constantly belittled at work by their manager and the district manager does not follow open door policy as he sends everything my so texts him to the manager and they seem to have a laugh about it. Thus, my so has contacted HR due to a recent event that is being swept under the rug, but is afraid of that inevitably getting them in more trouble. What can they do? We cant find any better jobs around here that arent the same shitty retail jobs. Also in regards to said event the manager has told them “to behave” and not tell anyone else about what happened. It seems like everyone working there is crooked and my so doesnt know how they will ever find a better job even once they graduate college this year. Has anyone ever been…
Mandatory 1hr unpaid lunch break
Hi, idk what to do about this situation at work. It's Kentucky for reference. Long story short, we were notified yesterday 1/24, that starting this Monday 1/30, we will have to go back to a 1hr unpaid mandatory lunch, making the workday, 30 minutes longer. My schedule is 8am-4:30 with a half hour unpaid lunch. Now, it will be 8-5. This fucks up my schedule, childcare and puts me in height of rush hour traffic for my 40+ minute commute. I only get to see my daughter 2.5 hours a day sometimes. Now, it will be even less. Also not to mention how very fucking unprofessional to do this. Someone quit today. (Lol) It was an hour afew months ago, and we hated it because it was too long and forces our day to be longer. We just sit there waiting for it to end, or I usually run errands.…
I 25F hate my job and current career path, but every other career I can think of sounds even worse, so I just stay where I am. The job pays me well, so I'm grateful for that, but I feel like my life outside of work is pretty boring. I'm usually too mentally exhausted in the evenings to do anything other than lay on the couch with my cat and watch TV. I've been battling anxiety and depression for the past 5 years; therapy has helped a lot, but I still have work to do and this job is hard on me. The fatigue after the work day is really fucking tough to beat, but I'm trying to plan more things in the evenings. I can typically have fun on Saturdays / Sundays though. So I get that I should just suck it up like everyone else, but it's really…
Started work 2 months ago at a new recycling facility. Not the greatest pay, but a little cushy since it was a supervisor position. The plant operates on Saturdays and rotate's shifts every other Saturday for employees, so we have to work every other Saturday, and then get a day off in the middle of the week the following week. I was fine with this when I signed up. I have done similar work to this before. Management decides to change their operating hours to be open 7 days a week, creating a new shift for supervisors. There are two of us and we work as a team but we do go solo on the weekends. We are working with a rotating team of 7. Sorry if I'm confusing you, I'm just trying to set up how the job was advertised to me. Anyway, it's been two months and I've…
So, I've posted about the ABA I worked at before. Well, let's just say shit got worse. My supervisor thought she was above company policy and berated me for taking covered time off due to illness (let's add that I worked in a childcare setting and have a compromised immune system that was definitely exacerbated by little kids). And said we were only allowed 1 sick day a month (not at all what company policy says). I was honestly planning my leave then. But I wanted to talk to my partner first, since it does affect him. Then, yesterday, I go in and start my session with my patient. I'm halfway through my session when my supervisor comes up and demands I come to her office. I comply, but I already had a bad feeling. And then she started on the accusations. 1) calling my 2yo patient names/speaking rudely to…
This is for the state of IL and I was trying to look up laws around this. I recently took a sick day off from work then had to work through lunch later in the week. I was emailed and notified that they would be adding an hour of PTO back rather than paying out the overtime. I am having trouble finding any specific laws or items related to this and I'm hoping someone here might be able to help me with this. Other information about OT laws would also be helpful. For example I was reading that in IL OT that hasn't been paid can still be collected up till 3 years after it was worked and the employer is trying to make it mandatory that we submit overtime request in day of. I only just learned about that one. I will be meeting with my supervisor tomorrow to…
Rolled through a McDonald's today and they had a “Now Hiring” – for lack of a better term – “sign” (it was a piece of printer paper with zany font on it) saying: “New Hires: $16.50/hr starting pay, 32+ hrs/week guaranteed High Schoolers: $14.00/hr starting pay, 20 hrs/week” Idc what anyone else thinks: this is bullshit. Just because you're in high school/a teenager does not mean you are worth less than your co-workers. I've worked with teenagers before, and some of them were harder working than any of the 21+ crowd that I worked with there. In fact, high schoolers, you should all demand more, or walk. The service industry is going to be heavily (if not already) relying on teenagers because high schoolers are looking for work and “can afford” to take $14/hr. Don't fall for that garbage. If you're applying for a job, do not take the “High…
