Jobs that post “now hiring” but never actually do

I’ve seen many people post how they’ve applied to multiple jobs who are hiring over the course of MONTHS and never get a response from a single one. My employer is one of those and I just want to post my experience. The Registered Nurse at our company’s cardiology office quit at the end of August 2022. I am only a CMA and have been covering the position as well as I can since then. Really ONLY an RN is supposed to do the job… The office is under stress and gets behind easily. It is now almost February 2023 and there is no sign that an RN is going to be hired. Our employer interviewed ONE RN months ago and that’s it. The cardiology office has been under major stress because they won’t hire an RN to do the job… Nearly 6 months without hiring anyone !!! Why do…

Worried about my paycheck tomorrow

I have a set schedule of 4 days a week, 8 and a half hours a day. I make a decent amount, but obviously missing a week is gonna fuck me over a bit. I took my week vacation and I get paid tomorrow and I've been slowly losing it. They could have fucking paid me the week of but nah they paid me in October and didnt tell me. I wouldnt have known if I didn't check my past paychecks in the app. Theyve been fucking with my pay for a bit now so im keeping track on paper of my hours. Im just so fucking nervous because i have bills tomorrow and idk if I'll have a lot for groceries. I fucking hate it here

Would you rather…

Option 1: Have an easy, limited stress, remote job that values work/life balance but is mediocre pay. or Option 2: Have a back-breaking, stressful, non-remote job with long hours and excellent pay. Assuming that both positions have the same level of benefits (i.e. health insurance, 401k) and same PTO/holidays. Basically, they are only distinguishable by the responsibilities/stress and pay scale. Which do you choose?

As a server working in the state of Montana, can my employer require that we “front” our tip-outs to support staff in cash even though they are now only paying out our cc tips biweekly?

New PTO implementation!

So my job of 8 years just gave us 100 hours of PTO! Normally this should excite people right, well not me. For the last 8 years we have been able to take within reason as much time off as we needed, only 1 guy of a total of 4 has ever abused this. Yesterday my boss tells me about it in anger. While for most people this is a good thing I'm furious, for me it's a gift with tight strings attached. Far as I can tell it's basically to stop our 1 moron from no call no showing. I'm upset because I know this will be used as a weapon against us instead of a “gift”. Am I wrong? Previous requests for time off have been more or less verbal and hesitant but always granted. Only recently have my time off requests been met with resistance. Also my…

Accepted a new job with the state partially because my current employer tried nothing and was all out of ideas.

I e been with my company since 2016 and I absolutely love who I work for. The work life balance is extraordinary and my supervisor has turned into my friend, but… the pay. Since 2016 I have gotten a total of 3 dollars in raises. I literally cannot afford to work there anymore. I told HR I’ve had to call in poor because I couldn’t afford gas. My supervisor really does not want to loose me, I’m senior in my team by several years but when I talked to hr, they said they had ideas and came back with literally nothing. I was heartbroken but not surprised. My new job is with the state, and has amazing health care, I couldn’t turn it down. I still feel bad leaving.

Got COVID, told “company policy is to use accrued sick leave before using Public Health Emergency Leave”

A little bit of context first: I work for a local business. I'd consider it a small business, because we are the only store of our name. The owners of our store live in the same neighborhood. But they also own a local restaurant chain with 7 or 8 locations, which is relevant because they're large enough to have an accounting/catering office that handles things a corporate division would, like payroll, hr, etc. I'm not sure how many employees work in that office, but I'd guess probably around 5 or less. Only 12 employees work at my shop, and I'm a manager. Suffice to say, it's not a huge company with corporate infrastructure, but it's not so small that I'm dealing directly with the owners (though I've met them enough that both of them and their wives know me by name). Okay, on to the story. As the title says,…
