I used to work at this company and had an asshole boss. Imagine the most typical asshole boss you can. Multiply that by 10. Yep, that's him. Guy was a bully, but at the same time wanted everyone to like him, so he would crack this weirdest jokes – everyone would laugh due to awkwardness and he thought that everyone loved him. So, long story short; Once he asks me to make this presentation. I work on it for a day, prepare a pretty normal one. Send it to him. He calls me to his office, saying that this is terrible. It's not gonna work. There is not much information and this needs to be totally redone. Meaning he wants me to retype all the material in there to make it look better. TBH, I am very self critical overall, but I knew he just wanted to show off his…
Recruiting/Hiring Woes
To start, I discovered this subreddit through a Facebook post about misleading job postings. I am a manager for a company that has some pretty absurd practices when it comes to recruiting/hiring. I'm searching for a tiktok video someone made that proposed this theory: the middlemanagers that insist the most on abolishing working from home are the linkedin types that really lean into “your job and position defines your identity” bs. Therefore, they need an office full of employees that act as NPCs so they can roleplay that awful work-based fantasy they call a life. I thought I had found that video in this subreddit, but either I'm wrong or I can't find the keywords. Someone knows what I'm talking about? Video was intended to be funny, but the more I think about it, the more depressing it actually is.
