About a year before Covid-19 I saw a listing for a temporary position at a company in my area. They manufactured items that shipped all over the world and their headquarters was right down the street from me. I applied in hopes of getting my foot in the door. I was hired as a temp to work in manufacturing. At the time I was in school getting a degree in business administration. I thought “this is perfect. Getting my foot in the door and I’ll be able to be hired eventually and move to the corporate side”. I was quickly moved from my initial manufacturing line to another. 10 hour shifts standing on my feet in the same spot doing tedious tedious work. For context, I'm a first year university student that has a wacky schedule and currently I'm 2 weeks on holiday since I've just finished my final exams recently, I would go to work at a retail company after class and I had a daily (part-time) salary for each day I came to work. So basically, the head accountant in the retail company I work in asked for my number today, I asked him: “Why?” His response: “On days that we don't have things to do and everyone is minding their own business I can just text you to not come to work so you don't waste your time, on days that we need you I'll text you.” I told him that I come to work everyday now because I'm on holiday for a couple weeks and just did my finals last Friday, (on average I worked 3 days a week),…

My grandparents really wanted me to come see them in Arizona to the point where they bought both me and my best friend plane tickets to go visit them in March. I would have to take 5 days off work. This would be March 27th – March 31st. I put request in AND emailed my supervisor the hours. She responded that she will put it in the calender but it could be denied depending on how many people have requested that space already/if they need me (I'm a nurse case manager, the only one for my area). I haven't responded yet but if I don't get the time off I'm quitting. I used to be such a doormat but not this time. I literally don't care anymore lol
