They micromanage like crazy. They check how much time between each call, if a sale was made, and they actually push the sale over the quality of the call. They actually have said the sale is more important than how the call itself is going and if good service was provided. We have individual meetings here and there with our boss where he has is share our screen and sound and just watches us work for a little over an hour. Turns out they also hired too many people during the last 3 months of 2022 so now they’re asking everyone to take time off as much as possible until May. If we don’t have much PTO then we just have to be unpaid. But there will me additional actions taken if people don’t start working less than their scheduled full time hours. Meaning layoffs will begin. IF we are…
I am currently on contract with my employer. They told me they can't convert me (fuck them). I only took the job to get converted. They hired 5 of us and didn't convert anyone. Again, fuck them. My contract ends March 3. They want me to go around town taking pictures for their client. Again, fuck them. How can I politely say “I don't want to do this.”
All for $2.13/hour
I have to keep this post very general. Pretty much my employer is trying to gain a head count of how many employees will leave after they force us back into the office. Some of the comments made by employees against working in-person include: Mental health improvement working remotely, more time to do healthy activities (working out, yoga, etc.), less stress having to worry about “fitting in” to an office culture, 2-3 hours of the day saved by not commuting, money saved by spending less on gas, food, professional clothes, parking, etc. The list goes on… I just wanted to write this post as a reminder that no, you are not lazy for wanting to work from home. You are not alone in the soul-draining cogwheel that we call corporate America.
Tipping discourse is not anti-work
Yes, tipping is stupid, its not efficient, its not fair, we all know this. Nearly all the posts about tipping on here come from the tippers prospective. As if figuring out that giving less money to the worker will leave more money in their own pocket is some novel idea. Go complain about the surcharge of being waited on and having someone else cook for you somewhere else.
Doctor note needed?
I am recovered from COVID and I have been asymptomatic for 4 days. I truly do not go to the doctor and haven’t been in many years. I’m very healthy and eat clean and work out. Tbh I’m scared of the doctor and always have been. I went into work today and I was sent home because I don’t have a doctors note allowing me back. I am not going to the doctor. I do not need to and I am back to how I was before COVID. Can they do this and what is a solution if I choose not to go to the doctor?
