I recently came back to a job because I left for a company with poor upper management but gained a lot out of my experience there. My old boss offered me a job in a part time leadership position with full time hours. I only left because the team I was working with was extremely toxic and it destroyed my mental health. After being back for a month my fellow managers were impressed with my performance, and I was offered a “promotion”into the position I was originally in before I left, but it was restructured into a one person role instead of a two person role (I would like to say that I had been at this company previously for 5 years). I was told that the work load would be more and I would be more responsible. I am completely okay with that and asked what my pay rate…
A friend of mine was told this last week shortly before his last day with his former employer. As he was telling me about it, he knew his boss was delusional and wouldn't care about what others thought of him. But still, the main reason he gave for resigning wasn't about pay (he makes a good living and it was only a 5% increase for his new job), but it was about the boss being a smug assfuck to everyone. The boss responded, true to form, “Better the devil you know than the devil you don't.” (Personally, I think this is a bullshit saying, especially for this sub) My friend just stood there in stunned silence for a moment, then responded, “Ok man, I'll take my chances.”
My boss doesn’t respond to me
So, I work at a major university in New England and we have extremely strick rules around discrimination, hostile work environments, and I've been talked to about micro Aggressions. I don't have the best relationship with my boss but I'm in the Union so she can't do shit to me. I've worked here for a year and I've noticed she doesn't respond to my texts, emails, or messages unless it's absolution necessary. She talks with my coworkers and office mates not problem but I seem to be singled out. Not to bring sex and sexuality into it but I am the only stright white male and I do wonder if I'm experiencing some subconscious discrimination and not having gone to the university I work at if I'm also experiencing some none in group discrimination as well. Personally I think this whole thing is childish. I don't know if I should…

Additional employment denied advice
I’m looking for advice. I work for an agency where additional employment has to be approved. For 6 years, 3 of my current coworkers have a side job working for a private company. Without giving too much away, think of like a police officer doing security part time. Well I was denied by our legal dept/HR for “potential ethics issues and conflict of interest”. I am livid. Since 2015, 7 people have been approved for this position. The last person was approved a year ago. Does anyone have advice on how to fight this?
Bosses are loyal…until they are not
My job was always flexible with my son (3 years old) My wife and I both worked there and they would let us handle any of his school or doctor business with no negative repercussions. My wife could leave early at 4 to pick up our kid from daycare and come back and chill with him until I was done around 5:30-6. It’s a family owned business and all the owners had kids themselves so they understood. Until, my wife got her dream job elsewhere last week and that left me to handle the little dude solo. So I informed the bosses that I would be clocking out at 4 to go pick him up from the near by daycare and bring him back to finish up my work in my office and I would keep him distracted with food and such. Boss told me yesterday that I should clock…
