“Tipping is about making sure the people who are performing that service for you are getting paid what they’re owed,” – This is 100% the employer’s responsibility. The slimiest notion is blaming the consumer for not making up employee wages.

Dexcom company

TL;DR Does anyone know about the company Dexcom, specifically their site in San Diego? Is there anything I SHOULD know about them before i uproot my life and move across the country. I am Interviewing for Dexcom in San Diego and I have made it to the third round of interviews, but something seems a little off for me. For clarification, I’m 29 y/o, male, living in Minneapolis, MN, working in the medical device field, and was sought out for this role on LinkedIn by a recruiter with the company. They said they are willing to cover relocation expenses and have continually asked me if I’m ready to make the move down to San Diego. My hesitation is that 1) I have never been at the level before where a company is willing to pay for me to move to them, 2) I don’t know anything about this company and…

Do I have to put in a two weeks notice?

In August of last year I started a job at a nursery where I became the out of school practitioner. I applied with no child care experience or qualifications but this was known to my now manager. I also offered to be a supply worker, which I did not mind at the time as they had the decency to check with me about when I would be able to come in or cover for anyone absent, they now however hand me my timetable with several hours added that have not been discussed. After a recent visit from the “big guy” I and several of my colleagues are expected to take several courses and training opportunities to help us perform better in our classes. What is being asked of me is not what I originally signed up for. I am alone expected to cover a class of up to 20 children…

Trying to refuse overtime while keeping my job

Hey r/antiwork, I could really use some advice here: I'm a carpenter, and the company I work for doesn't have “mandatory overtime” (they say), but lately they've started expecting us to work it at the drop of a hat, without any notice, nearly every day. I've got a family, and don't see the need to sacrifice my real life just so the bosses can get ahead of schedule and get their bonuses (which us field guys never see). The best idea I've come up with to take my time back is to email HR, saying something to the effect of “effective immediately, due to an unforeseen family situation, I'll no longer be able to work outside of the hours which I agreed to when hired (7:00-3:30) until further notice”. Is there a way they could legally fire me for this? Would I have recourse if they did? I'm tired of…

I worked my ass of all year, even got promoted. AFTER my promotion I make $17 an hour and have the max deducted. They took a total of $6k of my $35k salary. I always get some money back. This year I owe. I want to kill myself.

I have an amazing girlfriend, family that cares about me, healthcare I pay way too much for but at least I have it, food, shelter, friends… if I start my thinking out that way, my life sounds pretty fulfilling. I make art, I take walks…. so why do I want to kill myself? I recently, even though I work full time, had to borrow money from a friend and a family member, just to survive while work furloughed me for a month. I was planning on paying them back. I always get money back. My tax bracket hasn't changed, my life circumstances haven't changed. Nothing has changed except I made $3k more last year, which, they fully taxed….. and I fucking OWE money?? Like why am I doing this, why are we doing this? I have to get a root canal this morning and even after insurance Im having to…

Company refusing to put “policies” in writing.

So I work for a company that has been fighting the WFO thing since the pandemic started. Over the last few years the policy went from WFO full time, to WFO is discouraged but we can't stop you. That was the official policy for the whole company. Until about a week ago when our manager ordered our entire team to be full time in office, no exceptions. Turns out we are the only team in the entire company that must report in. Every other team is still WFO. We asked did the policy change…yep this is the new policy. We asked to have it in writing. NO. Don't ask again. It's not happening. So it seems to us that the company policy didn't actually change and this one manager is acting on his own and is telling the employees under him that it's the companies policy. The refusal to put…
