Preferential treatment towards parents

I originally posted this in r/childfree, so if hating on parents triggers you, you might wanna skip this post. Just for context, im in the UK. My manager always preaches the whole 'people with kids get priority with bookkng leave', and emphasises that's particularly important during summer holidays or any time that kids have off school. Due to my team being small, we can only have one person take leave at any given time, even though I think we could easily cope with 2 people out at the same time for a week every now and then. A particular colleague had 3 weeks off during August last year, blocking anyone from taking theirs for the majority of the month, and I joined the company in June, so it was far too late to book anything for the summer, so I thought, well, I'll just book some leave in the summer…

Retail employer told me ‘its not looking good’ when I told him that I can’t come in because I’m sick because I genuinely am.

Told me that I’m on probation period and that its not looking good for me because I called in sick few weeks after joining. Is a person not 'allowed’ to get sick just because they newly joined an organisation??? What the fuck? I’m so pissed.

Today, my company is going to make 33% of the team I manage redundant

Today is the last day my bosses won't know I've been secretly organising a union for the last 2 years.

Just a heads up, tax refunds are likely to be low this year, even if you have kids

https://www.npr.org/2023/01/22/1150300686/tax-refund-irs I was unemployed twice last year, and my wife was getting paid $16/hr for most of the year. We ended up just above the EITC. Have a kid. Return was under $100. This is not going to hit the economy well, especially when you have to be well-off to afford eggs.

I got shamed for being sick

I had a huge fever on Saturday and decided to work from home. NOTE: I told her I was sick, how high my temperature is and how everything hurts in my body when I move and i also…
