I've been trying to escape my shithole job for about a month now. Almost 90% of the time, whenever I try to apply anywhere I am sent one of those stupid assessments. I scored completed the first time I did it, which is the lowest score. I have the experience and skills though needed for the job. I stopped doing them because I wasn't going to waste my free time doing a test for a job I will probably not get for my score. It's not even my low score though, I see people who get expert and still don't get hired. I am mentally ill and have trouble with tests, especially timed tests and I just find it really unfair that they make you do these tests on your own time, as if a resume, cover letter and interview isn't enough for these employers already. I have all the…
31 years & thrown out like garbage
I apologize in advance if this is not appropriate for this sub. I’m posting because I frequently see questions from people outside of the US if health care is really as bad as we make it seem. Yes. Yes it is. My wife tore her meniscus and went to the ER. It was not with our provider as their urgent care centers were closed at the time (this visit would have cost us a $20 copay if she went directly to our provider) so went to a hospital that accepted our insurance. She had her vitals checked. Waited about a half our to have a two minute, tops, conversation with triage (still at this point didn’t know what her injury was) then went back out to wait for four hours. By this time it was late and she said fuck it let’s just go to [our provider] tomorrow to get…
Started at a new job less than two months ago. Since then, my manager will consistently change or delete my work after I submit it for final Q and A. She will then accuse me of not doing it properly. When reviewing the version history of the excel file, it’ll show HER name as the one who deleted or altered my work. When I confronted her on this several times, she makes up some silly excuse that is illogical. One ex: in December, I submitted 717 complete excel rows for final Q and A. I made a copy of my work as well. The next morning, my manager told me I had to start over bc the first 212 rows I had submitted were blank. When I showed her the copy of my work and asked her what she was talking about, she made up so illogical explanation and told…
How Equifax Became a Private IRS Late last year, the CEO of Equifax Mark Begor presented at a Goldman Sachs conference for investors, and openly told the investors how much market power his firm has in the business of selling income verification services to creditors. “We have meaningful pricing power,” he said, because “only Equifax has that income and employment data.” Equifax aggressively raises prices on the Work Number product line annually, and has, according to Begor, “already got our January 1, 2023 price increases in the market.” Long term, he says, “we have an ability to grow price well in excess of GDP.” This is fairly shocking stuff from a CEO, who should know better than to confess to monopolization. Only, it seems as if Begor wasn’t confessing, he was bragging.
I finished undergrad with a chemistry degree two years ago now. This is my first job as a chemist in research. I moved quickly from a technician role to a research scientist position; I am endlessly grateful for upper management that took the risk with me and let me succeed. When I switched from being a manufacturing technician to a research chemist, this was followed with a promotion. At my company, people usually go from technician to salaried Engineer I; the Engineer I role begins at $65k and is exempt FLSA. Given that I do not do engineering (at my work this involves different tasks and machinery) and am a chemist, I invented a new role known as “associate chemist”. I believed it was analogous to Engineer I and let HR and the President know about this. The two claimed to agree with me. This was the trap I built…
Crazy boss
My bf works at a tea shop/bar type place and his boss has it out for him… for seemingly no reason. The boss watches him on cctv for literally his entire shift. If he doesn’t do one thing quick enough he gets a message about it. It is honestly insanely creepy. He used to love this job and it’s become a nightmare to go. Boss doesn’t do this to other employees, at least to the extent that he is torturing my bf. I feel awful because he like really loves this job and his regulars but the boss is making it intolerable. This dude only took over two months ago and has turned everything into a hostile environment. Mostly posting this to rant about it and see if others have experienced anything like it… or if there is something that could be done?
