Old folk rant; advice-

So i was supposedly coming to this position as asst mgr. The boss back in august didnt “need one“ and i was dismissed. Didnt mean i was boots on the ground every day. Noted as supervisor and left be. Busting my ass stinky and etc. Now we have a computer thing to do by the 1/2st half of next month. Im on it. I dont feel doing it in timely manner will get me ahead. Im wondering do i submit the docs; password them? Or just submit them, wait for approval, password them then? As i am the author. I love my employer just want to cover my ass. Got a .75 cost of living raise which canceled my annual. Went from 18.50 to 19.25 contribute 15% to 401k. No degree. Advice. I am 55 yrs old

How legal is it for a company to deny you use of your accumulated sick leave?

Just as the title says. For relevance I have been there since August and while we are not allowed to use it while we were in training that is officially over. I am in Virginia in the United States.

How much should you pay family???

Not sure is this belongs here. My brother helped me fix my roof. We worked a total of 24 hours and I paid him $800. His work pays him 21 an hour. Did I pay him fair?? (I paid for his lunch all three days and gave him $50 for gas.)

Biohazards and Sharps

I don’t know if this is the right sub for this but I just wanted to see if anyone knew anything about this. I work as a mechanic for county transportation system and I was asked to pick up a syringe that was found on a train. What I’m wondering is if there is any specific training required to handle biohazards and sharp materials. We routinely get called out to clean up spills but syringes are a hazard I’d rather not expose myself or my coworkers to. I know that we use a contractor to decontaminate the vehicles if we find bedbugs or blood, so I don’t see why this would be any different. To make matters worse we don’t even have a sharps container or the right sized gloves.

Tipping your child’s bus driver

You’ll tip a server and a food delivery driver, but you don’t tip your child’s school bus driver. Do you not value someone getting your child home safely? Delivering a human being seems a lot more important than some food that can replaced right? This is a good example to help people see how ridiculous tipping culture has become. You expect your child’s bus driver to be paid by their employer, just like the majority of other jobs. Yet we have normalized the customer paying the wage for many jobs. Most jobs where you get tips don’t provide health insurance so you’re stuck paying the ridiculous market premiums or risk a medical issue putting you in serious debt. If you’re upset over not receiving a tip, you’re likely underpaid. If you were paid fairly, a tip would be an added bonus instead of an expectation.

Can you fine folks help me word a certified letter to a former employer? (Context inside)

I worked at a local doctors office for 2 weeks in total. The place gave me about a million red flags so I cashed my first check, wrote my resignation effective at the end of that week, and then waited patiently for 2 weeks after leaving to receive my second check, since I entered halfway through their billing cycle. It’s been months with no check, and I just received my W2 from them confirming they still owe me a couple hundred bucks from that last week. I’m actually terrified to return to the place to demand the check in person, so my grandfather suggested a certified letter requesting the paper check (because this office refused direct deposit right out the gate) Can you help me word a letter so that I don’t end up sending a certified letter that just says “pay up bitches.” I’ve never had to do something…

My boss didn’t any to hire me because I’m not religious.

Okay so boss not boss, they’re the owner of the school where I work. When I applied I had seven rounds of interviews to go through, this felt extreme but I figured it was to make sure the employees had a say in the matter of a new teacher ( we are a small school only a few teachers in total). I’ve been at my school for a year now and was talking to a coworker about the interview process and how at the time so many interviews were stressful and time consuming. They let me know that’s not how hiring normally is and the reason I differed was because my owner didn’t like that I wasn’t religious. This kind of shocked me, I felt hurt and defensive and weird. I learned that I’m mad that he didn’t care about who I was as a person and that my team…
