So, idk if this is the right place to post but has anybody noticed that with the prices on everything going up, the quality and quantity has gone down? I've noticed quite a bit, but the last thing was I got a Digiorno pizza and it was way smaller than it used to be. I used to eat them all the time lol
We’re in that special time of year that we get to look forward to the dreaded work holiday party. I’ve always done anything I can to avoid them except when I absolutely can’t. They tend to stress me out because even under the best of circumstances they still feel like emotional labor. I was wondering how the rest of the r/antiwork community feels about various after hours work events. I’m talking unpaid here. Edit: While we’re at it, does anyone else’s boss guilt them into going to these things? Apparently by not going I’m reflecting poorly on our department. If my presence is that necessary, maybe it should be during work hours?
Update: Fired in the Worst Possible Way
Wanted to drop an update to a post I made last week. Link: https://www.reddit.com/r/antiwork/comments/zh1pnj/fired_in_the_worst_possible_way Before I begin I want to thank this community for the support and positive messages I received. It was really comforting at a time I was reeling. I have a rule when I'm at any job to never turn down an opportunity to have conversations or interview with other companies. It helps to keep my finger on the pulse of the market, make a jump if necessary, or build relationships, or get a jump start on job hunting. In this case I've been having conversations with a company for a few months. I let them know I was officially on the market and they made me an offer this week. In the current market I consider myself lucky to recover quickly when I know so many others are struggling to find work amid mass layoffs. Thanks…
We have a totally different economic and societal experience compared to them. Yet they indirectly blame younger generations by withholding access to leadership positions.
'Eddie Hall, the sole candidate running for president of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) against incumbent Dennis Pierce, has been sanctioned by a union disciplinary committee for sharing an article from the World Socialist Web Site. In addition, the committee has recommended that the BLET file a complaint with the Department of Labor against the WSWS on the absurd grounds that its reporting on the union vote constituted election interference.' 'Late Monday night, the WSWS received reports from knowledgeable sources that Hall, a relatively unknown local officer, had won the BLET presidency. The BLET apparatus, however, has inexplicably announced that it is delaying releasing results until sometime next week.' Edited and added: 'However, it appears Hall could still be disqualified as a candidate on the basis of the complaint. The initial complaint demanded Hall’s disqualification on the ground that he had accepted assistance from a “non-member employer”…
You don’t need a Masters degree in communications, business, marketing or data analysis to learn those skills. There are low cost courses online and books that explain those topics.
a message from a grind culture type
I'm one of those people that get made fun of a lot on this sub. I say yes to pretty much every side task and weird request at work. I pick up extra shifts, and often pull 16 hour days. I'm lucky that I'm in a job that has well rewarded me for that, but it's not been this way in every job. The secret most guys like this won't tell you is that they are self medicating. I am incredibly mentally ill and have no idea what to do with myself outside of work. Work is the only social interaction I or many other grind culture guys ik get. Honestly the only thing keeping me from killing myself some days is knowing they can't replace me. Work is exploitative, and I'm fueling an addiction. I tip my hat to all of you working to break the cycle.
