This fuckin’ guy….
7-Eleven Employee in distress.
I don’t have time or the mental capacity to even tell my story right now. All I have is questions. What’s the least an employer can pay you. I get 12.75. Is there a full 40 ever working there? Is the probationary period real? How do they decide raises because I’ve been told two things. 90day probationary and work hard enough. But what’s the point of “working hard enough” when no matter how hard you work, you can’t get hours until someone calls off or quits? Buzz words of $13/hr and 40 hours thrown so much. How do I get out of this trap?
An actually passionate manager?
My manager is actually passionate about our work, they work long hours, is involved in the local community for the industry and pushes us all to be better. We are paid well, plenty of growth opportunities and additional education. Very much a “teamwork makes the dream work” place. So would you have issues working unpaid OT in this situation?
I don’t understand 2 weeks notice
No clue why companies want two weeks notice. I’ve never once been somewhere that gets a replacement hired in that timeframe for me to train them, and I’ve always just checked out as soon as it’s submitted. What are they going to do, fire me? Oh well. I gave a months notice on Friday and, well, here I am scrolling through Reddit if that tells you anything.
I'm going to keep this as anonymous and vague as I can, because I really don't want to be doxxed. For context, I'm a high school student in the US (North Carolina). I'm currently a senior, and I work as a math tutor. I've worked for a certain center for the past year. I'll call this center Old Space, or OS for short. I applied to work at a new place, which I will call NP for short. I've worked at OS for over a year, without any hiccups or problems. I did take a two-month leave in summer because I was traveling, but that's about it. I've been working at the same rate ($12/hour) since I started. Recently, all our older tutors left for college, and we hired 4 new tutors at OS. They started working in August, and started at $12, just like I did. However, this…
Hi all, So when I started my current job, I loved it. It had great benefits, and etc. I felt really motivated to work hard and had some of the highest metrics on the team. I even moved 1500 miles away for it. Fast forward to now, I have been dealing with some really poor management. My current manager constantly critiques me which is fine, but she will also dig in with follow up emails to really salt the wound. I have not gotten any positive reinforcement at all, despite working during PTO and on holidays to take on a super important dedicated client of ours and sacrificing my PTO to cover my own work. I've also done tons of great work here including helping prevent a lawsuit by employees/ADA for a lack of accessibility on trainings. I've had committees I've started stolen from me by managers trying to make…
Managers said that is not an federal holiday so we have to come in work friday
