Our Manager Got Let Go
He was a decent guy and he had a role in the decision making for my hire. he was pretty big on Building a Relationship with Team and Caring About Team Building Events which I understand from a “this a family” perspective, but the reality is that we are not family and our co-workers need to be kept at an arms distance. Unfortunately these things happens and I even mentioned to another coworker in my team about a month ago how although I understood his optimism about the role, things can change and feeling comfortable is a mistake which we eventually pay the price for. Company loyality is a myth. If you are hired for a position, there is always someone above you that will have a hand of control in your personal life. I'm still not even past probation yet, but this reminded me that I need to keep…
We need time off to appreciate a culture
Ok then. So when you decline the raise, I’m going to need to see your balance sheet! How much are your actual expenses? How much revenue is coming in? How much profit are you taking out of here? I’m fully away you may have committed a lot of money to lease or buy property, equip. Fine. (While we’re in that topic, where did you get that money? If you didn’t earn it yourself then you risk little by committing it to the business). We need to build a catalog of every business (or as many as possible) in our communities. The public needs to know who the owners are, what they’ve invested and where it came from, what are their expenses and profits. How much is going to employees? If the owners are telling the truth about not being able to pay then this will become clear to everyone… win…
Do Employers Know? (Their Job Ads)
Just because you say “exciting” “fast paced” and “best of the best” 10x throughout your ad doesn't make you any more appealing than the next job..we don't even want that. There's nothing exciting about your cafe that is a dime a dozen or your warehouse or your office. Y'all act like you're NASA. Give me “slow pace/relaxing work environment” or “we offer flexible scheduling” instead of demanding that people are flexible for you
My Boss Exploded With Anger
My boss had an explosive reaction to the news of yet another employee quitting in a span of just two weeks. The resignations were a result of the overwhelming workload and constant understaffing issues that the company had been facing. After slamming his office door shut, he summoned the remaining employees to gather around. He began a furious rant, expressing his frustration and disappointment in the employees who had chosen to leave. He made derogatory remarks about the reasons cited for their resignations and suggested that they were not willing to work hard enough to handle the challenges of the job. He also implied that the employees who had quit were not committed to the company and did not understand the importance of their roles. At one point, he even went as far as to suggest that the employees who had quit were not willing to make sacrifices, such as…
First they called being a model employee “quiet quitting” because they couldn’t expect people to do free labor and give them extra time for free. Now they are calling it “rage applying” when you actively shop your resumé around looking for better paying jobs. Since when is any of this a bad thing?
