I work in tech and eversince i was very young i could testify honestly my wish is to work as little as possible while earning as much money as possible. Today im not rich, but i do pretty good, i should also note i had some good support from my parents when it comes to paying for uni and education. The start of my career was really difficult to jump start, finding the first job was far from fast or easy and i had some luck there, my first few years honestly involved slaving away my time and energy, but ad time went on, i could afford better paying conditions eith less effort on my side. My point is, yes i am very lazy, but somtimes to get to be able to be lazy, u have to be a slave first, maybe its just my personal expirience, maybe i wa…
Teaching is making me miserable
This is my first year of teaching. I’m on a probationary certification, and I’m using the teachworthy program to get certified. I won’t be certified until the end of the year. I won’t go into details, but I’m completely miserable and I think I’m closer to suicide than I’ve ever been. My students (7th grade) are horrible and I’m so burnt out and stressed out. All day at work I just cry. Then when I get home I cry. Then all weekend I cry. I have panic attacks even when I’m asleep. I want to resign today but I don’t know if I can. I may completely lose my potential certification (no good cause act) if I quit mid year. My boyfriend makes 17 an hour, and we figured out that if we both made 17 an hour we could afford everything, but only have 300 dollars a month left…
I would like to terminate employment immediately as a branch manager in a construction company for reasons that include; declining housing market, no further advancement opportunities, health is declining due to materials we work with, and my boss is a jerk. My employment contract states that “at sole option of employee” my notice should be at least 30 days. I’d like to resign immediately. Will I be in danger to be sued by company? I am employed at an at-will state.
My job is destroying my health
I am so fed up of my job. Everybody relies on me to do most of the work while they're slacking. My bosses barely do anything about it. It's gotten to the point where i have to put my phone on airplane mode on my days off, because nobody is doing anything and they need help. My job requires me to go outside several times a day however, we're not properly equipped for that. We're not allowed to use our personal coats, we can only wear the company's jackets. These jackets are nowhere warm enough for the canadian winter (not even waterproof). Last year my fingers started freezing up it was so painful. I have a heart condition and recently it started acting up more than usual, It jumps and squeezes. This job is ruining me, wtf do i do? I have to wait a month to talk to my…
I just wanted respect
This is going to be a long rant! I was just fired from my job for having the balls to try to stand up for me and coworker to have the human right to take care of our families. I was hired in March with an oilfield company working in the parts department. I fully disclosed that my wife was disabled, has cancer, and a myriad of other serious heath issues that at times leave her very weak and unable to take care of herself let alone our children. I informed them that I would likely have to take off more than normal to take care of my family. They assured me that this was not a problem and that most of my job could be done remotely. Since then they have hired a new manager who btw is 26 and is in a leadership role for the first time.…
I was written up for the first time in 5 years of employment last week and have a gut feeling I’m on my way out. They said it was due to attendance, though my attendance hasn’t been discussed at all over 5 years. Write ups are rare where I work, and the last person to receive one was gone within a month. They obviously want to start a paper trail. Later on while scrolling through LinkedIn jobs I see a temp job ad (by the agency my employer uses) with my EXACT job description, down to the names of the somewhat obscure software we use. Pay is $5 less than what I make currently. It was posted the day before my write up. Seems a wee bit fishy, don’t you agree?
I've been doing double duty at my job because my bosses are dragging their feet on hiring an extra person. They claim they are working on it but I don't believe them though they did give me a raise. I have talked with my main boss to ask for a hard deadline as to when an extra employee will be hired because I am stretched too thin and cannot keep splitting my focus like this. Her response: “I know, I know.” And that was the end of the convo. Literally she gave no reassurance that she'll talk with the other bosses about getting a move on or anything like that. I applied to a couple of other jobs today. I'd prefer to not have to change jobs honestly but I don't know what else to do at this point. My current job also provides no benefits or insurance. So that…
List of mistakes
So I’ve been training as a machinist for about 3 months and lately my boss who I thought was my friend (my mistake) put a list up in full view for everyone to see of mistakes I have made as a trainee. He told me he doesn’t know how many mistakes it will take but he said that when he feels too many have been reached that he will fire me. The mistakes that are listed aren’t serious like crashing the machine, breaking a part, or anything along those lines. But I’m not sure how to approach this situation since it seems like he’s actively looking for things to put on the list. Should I ask him to take it down or start job hunting? I’m not even sure if it’s something that can legally be done in a corporate setting. Any advice is appreciated thanks everyone.
What to do after blatant sexist remark
Have been with this company 2 years- managing accounts/portfolios with external clients, as well as assist with internal clients as well. My largest external client has grown exponentially in size and they require full time attention to properly support. I had brought the need for full time support on this account many times, and revisited again recently. It was immediately refused to me with little explanation. Later, I learn that the company does not find me to be the right fit due to being female and I have the potential to become pregnant and need to take a leave, then what would the company do? (Stated to me in a meeting with my direct manager) Not sure what to do next – I have reported to HR but have received no follow up from anyone on this in over a week. What steps do I take next?
