I swear corp America is pedal to the metal now that Covid is passé. 10x more internal tests we have to take, way tighter scrutiny on every second of every day of every employee. Like did corp America not learn a damn thing after all this? People are fucking sick of the bullshit we’re not a fucking robot machine. This shit is ridiculous. No wonder we’re all quiet quitting. I’m so done with this shit.
is this possible?!?!?
I have a work from home job. It's for a tech company and they provided all the products. So a few days ago my product was not working properly so I was unable to take calls. My direct supervisor instead of helping me with the issue sent me to a different supervisor who was on call. This on-call supervisor then texted me that she would clock me in and out for the next 2 days since I was having issues with my computer and IT never got back with me. 4 days later I'm here on my day off now finally with the issue resolved. I'm Checking my clock-ins and I noticed that the on-call supervisor did not put in those two days like she told me she would, so I asked my direct supervisor who was now the on-call supervisor why it's not showing up. He then states that…
I’m creative and have a vision. It just seems so hard and sometimes even unrealistic to get there because I’m so brainwashed by the world we live in. They don’t want you to feel like you could create your own reality. I know I could start and run a small business. I know it. I just struggle to snap out of the matrix and find the push and the faith to REALLY do it. If you guys have an advice, guidance, book recommendations or podcast recommendations to help me, let me know. I need to get out of the rat race and create something I can grow and have as my own and live off of.
I heard in the UK they passed that law in order to motivate young people to study and get higher education instead of working. To me it just sounds like they wanted a way to exploit minors. Why should an 18year old get paid less than a 21year old for the same job?
Scare tactic backfired
I’ve been with my company for over a decade, mostly in a supervisory role for various teams, been moved as needed where the role was most required, then moving to another team to help them. Three years ago our department got a new director and things started going downhill. Between changes in staffing, metric expectations, and the very day to day details of the job, I don’t recognize the group I’m working for anymore, and it’s to the point it’s effecting both my work and my health. I’ve had multiple doctors order me and write notes to take time off work, and reduce my stress. So last week my boss made a comment that was basically “put in more effort, do more, or you may want to step down before they demote you.” In the past I’ve gritted my teeth and tried to do better but I’m out of Fs…
Well this is a thing now….
Fired after 12 years with no warning
I guess the title says it all, still in a bit of shock. Always felt safe due to the amount of times I had been promoted, moved for the company, took on huge projects and delivered massive contracts etc. The tough part is I was constantly being approached on LinkedIn for other roles and advancement, but now that I’m unemployed it’s been hard to get companies to take a look. I was never written up, always received glowing reviews, never even coached that something wasn’t going well. Fired for cause “not meeting the standards established” with no further explanation. We are in an at will state but unemployment is getting denied due to it being for cause. I’ve appealed because 30+ other people were fired without warning “for cause” as well (layoff without calling it a layoff). Any advice for the best way to present that? I will say we…
