so i’m a college student and i got hired for a paid internship at a museum, this really aligns w my career goals and i really want to gain the experience there. i’ve been waiting forever to begin working there though… i just checked and my hiring email was sent nearing 4 weeks ago now. i’ve been in contact w the supervisor that i interviewed w/hired me and she says she doesn’t know why it’s taking so long/she’s waiting on HR. i quit the job i was at before for this paid internship and i feel like i’m just waiting around now… what’s the best/professional way to ask her to look into this quickly bc i’m not getting paid rn
Geez it's almost as if scrooge wrote this. I'm not in it for “financial gain ” homie don't lie with those “record profits” . And if not for financial gain then why you a business?(excluding non profits) Then a hotline for violation of an unclear word salad.” A sincere and respectable ” company would have OSHA violations as a goal post.
Hello, I quit my old jobs after two weeks (7 days of work) because my manager was really toxic. Now I am working at a new place and I am happy here. However, My old manager still haven't pay me for my days working there. I mean most of it is training but it a paid training so I expects to get paid. What should i do? Should i call the place and ask them to pay me?
Protection against wrongful termination.
To provide some context, I've been working at a factory where I'm responsible for manufacturing parts. Over the past few days, I've made some mistakes that have cost the company both money and time. However, it's essential to note that my work undergoes a thorough review process by five different individuals. Given this, I believe it's unfair for me to shoulder all the blame for these errors, especially since I'm not infallible, and some mistakes are bound to occur. Recently, one of the five colleagues responsible for checking my work warned me that if these mistakes continue, I could lose my job. In response, I pointed out that if my work was incorrect, he had the opportunity to catch those errors during his review before proceeding. Instead, he seemed to blame me for not catching his oversight and referred to it as laziness on my part. I find this situation…
Last time I spoke about this place: https://reddit.com/r/antiwork/s/6yQff7vsKB So after surviving my PIP, I continued to look for a new job. 197 applications later….landed a job in the same industry……for $30k /year more than I was making. Couldn’t be happier!!!
Note: I'm not hired yet. I think both interviews went very well and there's a good chance I will be hired. But regardless, my question still applies since every job I'm applying for is customer service oriented and WFH/remote. As it relates to the job I might be offered, it's primarily responding to live chats, and involves some emails. The employer would provide me with a company laptop from what I know. I'd imagine that before doing anything at all, I would need to check it for anything pre-installed that might be able to monitor what I do, install, etc…. right? I'd imagine that some companies do that, while others can thankfully be quite trusting. FWIW: the one I might get hired at is one of those small but growing, “modern”, hip, tech-y companies. Let's say it checks out to be fine and there's nothing spy-esque installed on the laptop…
Made a post on here that hit the front page recently about how corporate has ruined the company they acquired. If you care, you can read here Some backstory: I work for a small company that was acquired by a larger company shortly before my start date. After a little over a year there I saw the writing on the wall. We are getting busier and busier, with my department being half the size of the next smallest department but with no plans for hiring a junior person to take over the entry level responsibilities we've been doing. I am an accountant and corporate has their own accountants at HQ, so they just see it as an unnecessary expense and we have essentially been made entry-level over time. My boss (CFO of the subsidiary I'm part of) announced he'll be leaving at the end of December, and we all know…
Idiotic uniform policy??
According to my employer I’m required to be in FULL COMPLETE UNIFORM when I am en route from the workplace to my home, and have been spoken to about changing my clothes before leaving the building. For reference, my uniform is considered a federally controlled uniform item (I work for security but I will not be naming the specific industry I do security for) and it is also uniform policy to not wear the uniform in public. After wrapping my head around this several times, I still don’t understand why I am required to be in full uniform and cannot change into normal clothes when I am off duty and leaving the premises. Can anyone provide further explanation for this shit policy, or are they just idiots looking for easy ways to hand out disciplinary notices??
Idk what to do anymore.
I cant do this anymore. I'm drowning in debt, I don't make enough to survive, jobs telling me they don't want me because I'm “a laborer”. I don't want to keep doing these physical jobs because they always ALWAYS have shitty management. My mental health is reaching levels of no fixing, and yet I can't stop my job because of bills, and mortgage, and food, and gas, and on and on and on. I struggle because of severe ADHD, depression, bipolar, and PTSD at the age of 29, and no one seems to understand me, or want to even try since its a lot easier to throw people like me to the curb, and replace us. I have a mental breakdown nearly every other day at this point because of the rich assholes above me refusing to treat me like a human. Im not smart enough for school, and no…
