Title says it all. What a fucked up, bullshit thing to do to an employee. We work in a pretty high stress, high burnout position, so we tear through what little PTO we're allotted per year. As we expected, the company took the position of it being an issue of 'consistency,' and that our current policy is already liberal enough. Some days the only thing that gets me through is fantasizing about walking out. One day, it will be a reality.
I hate software engineering
Chilling in my car and thinking of how shitty is my current job and the ones before it. Coperate environment is disgusting and mentally draining. I hate technical interviews, layoffs, deadlines, team meetings, and the whole “how was your weekend?” “It was great” Fuck!

I have steady work, which is great, but I have a feeling if I don’t leave soon, the company will double how they take advantage of me. It’s one of those companies that is still in startup mode but shouldn’t be, and when one person is out, there is no redundant hire to help with the load. I know of a couple employees where their counterparts quit and their load doubled or tripled. I just keep hoping, after months of applying on and off, I’ll find something new. I’ve had a couple of years of stellar annual reviews, but there was some bait and switch on the job I would be doing. What are some good, maybe chill places to work for remotely. I have customer support (SaaS but happy to work anywhere) and writing experience, and some managerial experience (I have some chronic illness which is half the battle)?…
This shit is ridiculous…
“Company is upfront about the work it takes to build a trillion dollar company together. We work startup hours, with catered dinner at the office. The whole team tends to work >12 hours in the office but there is flexibility to go to the gym or run errands during the day and then get back to work. What would be your ideal work hours?” In other words, let us work you to death so we can become billionaires. This is the most unreasonable thing I've ever seen on a job application… and I write them for a living. 12 hours a day are not 'startup hours', thats slave labor. Unless you're paying 33% above market salaries, no company should ever expect this. 'But don't worry, you don't need to see your family because we're a family'… crazy deluded founders. SMH
Email from the CEO and my response below. So it finally happened to me. Applied to a role and received an assignment of work. Looking at the assignments, they weren't even hiding the fact that they could use all the applicants' work to service their clients. Even provided info on their clients to help us in the process. Email from CEO: ” Hi Scars, Thanks for applying for the Marketing Copywriter and Strategist job at COMPANY – we are excited to keep growing and finding the right people to join our team. We are hiring two people for this role and hope to have both candidates start in the next 60 days at the latest. Before we set up a call with our team, I want to quickly make sure there is a great potential fit for this role. Please take 1-1.5 hours (at most) to finish these three assignments to watch…
If I make almost as much or just over how much people on social assistance make, then why am I even working this job? No matter how much I make, I still struggle at my job. Prices increase faster than my wage can keep up. I'm highly considering quitting and just going on assistance because this isn't worth it. And if assistance doesn't become worth it or I become homeless, there's always getting arrested and living in jail for free… I just can't do this anymore. I love my career and I want to do it, but I know the system is broken. It's hurting the children. And I can't do anything to fix it. There's nothing I can do to truly help them. Only being with their families would truly help. Being raised at home with a primary caregiver is what they really need. And the system will never…
Work has a problem
Okay so i work for a transportation company and we seem to have a problem with hiring people who don’t like to work sober. We just lost our 3rd guy for the same thing in about a month or a little more. Dude was passed out drunk with a steel reserve in his hand. Many other employees drink on lunch. Is there anything i can do to protect myself? The job is shady but it does pay good. I would just hate to lose my life or limb. & then they had an employee install a water fountain. Thats our only water source really and the fountain we use to cool off hot metal has brown water. Pretty sure like a licensed plumber should do it not eric from the other bay. Im not trying yo be a Karen but it just seems like safety is an issue and i…
This is going to sound very hippie maybe but hear me out lol. I usually wake up at 6. The world is dark and quiet and the birds are waking up as well. I take my shower in quiet. I drive to the office as the sky brightens up in pink and orange hues. At the office I set up my workplace and my desk is across a window where I see the sun come up. I'm all alone, since I intentionally start early so I don't have to deal with the loud people who come in at 9. I have an apple and take in the autumn air. During the day I regularly look outside for the weather. I'm daydreaming about the mountains I always visit during spring, or the woods I visit in late autumn/winter. As you may be able to tell, I love nature. So much I…
