Paternity Leave/Going back on their word

Before my wife gave birth to our daughter, our management had spoke with me regarding my paid paternity days. They informed me I was going to get 6 paternity days as well as a day for each year I’ve worked here. (4 years=4 extra days). Totaling 10 days of paid paternity leave. Fast forward to our baby girl being born, I had left my wife at the hospital to go get additional clothes and other items that we were needing. Mind you our daughter was born prematurely and was having to be kept in the NICU until she was able to maintain her own temperature/eat a specific amount of ounces of milk. My job was well aware of this and even wanted me to try and transfer my wife to an alternative hospital “as the NICU at the hospital she was born at was not well equipped for premature babies”.

Texas doesn’t have any state laws mandating any sort of parental leave. Google simply says they need to rely on federal laws?

I’m definitely not trying to press any charges or anything, can’t afford lawyer fees with a new baby right now lol. Just feel it was really unethical and (at the end of the day) rude as shit. Want to know y’all’s opinions on this…am I overreacting? Would you also be downloading Indeed job searching elsewhere?

TIA!
