Payroll didn’t post now I have a lot of questions.

I work for a startup company. The company has been around for almost 2 years. Our payments to vendors are always hit or miss. We have a lot of bills to other companies that are racking up in the thousands of dollars. The company is getting by though and working hard to find ways to bring more revenue in. This past week though everyone was suppose to get a paycheck but then we got an email from HR that paychecks are going to be 5-7 days late because we did not have enough revenue to cover payroll. A lot of people were upset and a lot of consoling happened. Some people had enough savings, another income, or a SO to rely on to help covers their bills until paychecks get deposited. Even so that’s 3 weeks without pay and a lot of people live paycheck to paycheck including myself. Is…

Is this typical for start ups? Is this a bad sign for the company? Should I start looking for something else?
