Penalty for being sick at work (foodservice)

A friend had recently threw up at work and was sent home. Our work has a “points” system for call-offs, leaving early, etc. leaving work will get them 1 points, no call no show for three, with a max of nine till being fired. They are trying to make them take the point, where we don’t think that’s how it should be given we work in food and being sick. Can we fight this to get them back? I too have similar situations so all help is appreciated. The state is pa, message for more details if needed
