People putting on Linkedin: mother of two

What does that even mean? How does that relate to a website specific to job connections and gathering around common professional interests? Does that mean: I'm ALL that and a mother. Er. I don't know if your husband is wealthy and you have an army of nannies. I've seen guys putting “father to Emily”, but much less often, and I don't know if that's to soften their image (I know I'm playing with stereotypes). Afaik in many placea HR is prohibited from asking about marital status and children. Being very honest, in job interviews I let it be known that I don't have children to see if I have an edge. We're all competing, aren't we? Still, I don't know WHY parenthood status made its way to LindedIn.
