Please do 2 jobs for your same 1 job pay

I have worked at X company as IT with one of my friends for around a year and a half and 2 weeks ago he quit. We talked about him leaving since June and I took over his job by the beginning of July. He put in his 2 weeks mid July and was gone by the 24th. I had a talk with my manager before his leaving and after to go over whether I could handle all his responsibilities and tasks to which I said yes and I have actually been doing them since the beginning of July. I asked my manager for compensation and he said they would look into it before end of October of this year. I asked for something sooner and my managers response is they wanted to make sure I could handle the work load. Totally get that but as I already stated to…

Totally get that but as I already stated to them I've been doing both our jobs since July just fine and now I'm going on 2 weeks totally alone with no external issues. I am doing more work at my job and am now worn out each day but this hasn't effected how quickly I get work done or the number of tasks I am taking on.

So they want me to do both my job, and my coworkers job, for my same, what I think to be low, pay until sometime in October. At which point they MIGHT give me a raise for an unknown amount.

To add, I have been given one raise in my year and a half working here which was 5%, just barely above inflation.

At this point I'm ready to leave the company and find a new job, Im just curious if I'm being irrational or if this is the standard for companies anymore
