Recently I have had a relapse for a neurological condition that causes me pain, discomfort, memory loss, focus issues, numbness and fatigue. Although my previous neurologist signed FMLA/Ada paperwork for this company due to my issue and is still active with my company, this new flareup caused me to land in the hospital for a while and I missed a lot of work. I was unable to follow the company rules as far as reporting my FMLA intermittent leave through their required portal due to being in the hospital. I did however message my immediate supervisor explaining the situation.
This is a work from home position for a very large vended call center. I've been with the company for over 8 years and ever since my injury occured just over 2 years ago I feel like I'm being pushed out the door. I didn't get any official firing. I got notices that the company is trying to recover their assets in my possession. (Laptop, monitors, etc..). No one has officially told me I was let go or fired, but it leaves me to believe that they've actually let me go without any actual notice of being fired.
What do I do here? I already gave my physicians new ada/FMLA paperwork to turn into the company as this was an unforseen absence and couldn't be predicted. I don't know if the new paperwork has been turned in to my employer yet. Do I call a lawyer? Do I call HR? Do I call my boss? Fuck these assholes for putting me through so much emotionally. Being a single dad with a rare neurological disorder is hard enough as it is. Any direction or help would be appreciated. Thanks.
