I worked at a nearly dead retail store the size of a warehouse. There were no customers for weeks and every task was done to perfection. So there's nothing to do and everyone gave themselves fake tasks.
Sometimes I just take an entire pallet of cooking oil off the shelf one by one, take it to the back, pretend to count them, and put them all to the front again. Been doing this for months until I got sick of the toxic co-workers.
Besides the toxic work place full of gossiping entitled boomers at work, our manager laid off half the staff for working too slow. But they were actually doing their job right in a slow environment.
Meanwhile, the rest of us look like we were working fast, but it was just us burning time by being unproductive.
