For almost everyone but my role. Well look at situations on a case by case basis, but still say no, to you. Because position is now full time in office. I’ve got over two decades on the same project, I’ve adapted to different areas. Just prior to the shutdown I had moved to a location about 65 miles from the office… four days a week. I did that commute for three and a half months. Then snap, full time telework, like most knowledge workers around. During the shutdown I was reassigned to a different group… current group never commented on it. Managers didn’t. That’s a side note – the new group has their office 30 miles further from home. No big deal, still teleworking. Start returning to the office last year a couple times a week, gas prices soar. Go in one day a week. More if needed. Available to assist. Get things done at home and in the office, making the most of the office days. Mid year this year ruling was made, everyone in the role I am in is to have their designation changed to full time in the office. Exceptions.. maybe. Turns out it is no and no. No exceptions, no more hybrid. Quite frustrated. Feels like the idea of hybrid is only for the select few… but it isn’t. Feels like there is no avenue to stay in position and felt compelled to turn in notice. If we talk about safety and reducing the carbon footprint, why do they not take into consideration my distance for the commute? It can have an effect on both. Corporations… HR… why are most HR departments terrible departments to work in? Not quite related but I am curious.
