Anyway my boss mentioned that the upcoming promotion will not come with much of a pay increase since I'm currently making way more than L3 ceiling and at mid-point of L4 that I'll be moving up to.
I mentioned that I'm expecting a certain raise but didn't tell him how much. 10% is what I really want but would be OK with 6-8% given that I've not had a pay increase or merit in 18 months here.
Is my thinking fair? Am I demanding too much if I give him the 10% number before the news becomes official? I want him to have this for reference so there's no back and forth once it's done. Would love your insights!
