Hi I currently work at a utility company in power generation and I also served in the navy. I have been curious lately about the anti-work sub Reddit. Hi I currently work at a utility company in power generation and I also served in the navy.
I have been curious lately about the anti-work sub Reddit. I enjoy working less, I recently switched to a 4 10s schedule and it has been amazing for my work life balance when it is consistent. However in my sector there are not enough skilled workers to take on the work load needed to run the power grid. My company is literally always hiring apprentices or journeyman and just can never seem to have enough workers to meet the demands of power line & generation failures/ maintenance. I end up working 6-7 days a week 12 hour shifts very often and I’ve already hit 800 OT hours for the year. I’m curious what the solution is from the anti work perspective? How can we reduce hours worked if there is a skilled labor shortage and an overwhelming amount of work needed to keep the basic public services running.

I want to work less but I also see that there is a lot of infrastructure that needs to be maintained. How does anti-work get through this?
