Questions on psychometric Personality Assessments in recruitment process – is it all BS?

As part of a job interview/recruitment process, I did some of those psychometric/personality/values assessments. I haven’t done this before for any role, and found the whole process pretty anxiety inducing. I didn’t know what I was in for! I do not agree that these sort of tests should be used in a recruitment or job…call me old school but just feel 1) companies should take time to get to know a candidate and 2) it’s so easy to manipulate the answers so what’s really the point? I answered truthfully however found some questions so unclear and ambiguous that I couldn’t always put a definitive answer, so sometimes just put a neutral answer – it’s timed so can’t really think too long! Anyways, I understand that companies use to to gauge candidates. My second interview is tomorrow and I was sent “my results” aka “candidate profile” – the assessment does not…

Anyways, I understand that companies use to to gauge candidates. My second interview is tomorrow and I was sent “my results” aka “candidate profile” – the assessment does not paint me in a good light, and a lot of what it says is wrong. It has a whole section dedicate to things I need to improve or develop, which are not accurate of my true skills and experience.

I feel very much confused, but also like a big FU about this process. I was given an equivalent of some buzz feed quiz on my personality with no context behind the questions and results sent to me from a company I don’t know, trust, who now I’m suppose to come in and defend myself? I feel like it’s a bunch of BS. They’re already telling me areas I need to improve and develop and I don’t even work there.

Anyone have experience with this or can offer advice? I will act professionally at my interview and have plenty of examples that counterpoint the quiz, but sort of feel like why couldn’t we just have a chat instead of using some quiz to form a basis of what they think my skills are and lacking??

Thanks
