Hey guys the title says it all, graduated with a bachelor’s in IT top of my class. I also have a digital cyber security forensics certification I have 3 years of customer service/retail experience and now officially a little over a year in the help desk. I have applied to over 500 jobs and the only positions that seem to want me are just help desk minimum wage and out of those 500 job positing only about 6 of them responded on followed up. Feeling very discouraged. At my current job I feel as if I have maxed out my knowledge with the least hard part of my day is troubleshooting ending/fixing issues/tickets less than 5 -10minutes it’s become so monotonous. I think I could make a now higher wage working at McDonald’s with Californias new minimum wage for fast food workers .. I see some people with it no experience and no certs skyrocket into an engineering position…. I was not expecting to get rich getting into IT at the start but also was not expecting such low wages with a bachelors in IT. Is the job market that terrible? Does anyone else have any recommendations or similar experience?
Also, I am perusing my CCNA in hopes of finding a better position as I am interested in networking and Cyber Security.
Edit: if anyone is interested I work 40 hour weeks. And get paid 30,000 after taxes. I work at a large health care organization in California. I also got my degree after my help desk job (when I was about 2 months in the help desk job).
