So I'm now making about $62k (US) per year and honestly it amazes me how this still doesn't feel like much and I'm not generally a big spender. When I applied for this place I really kept things vague on my application and resume by starting that I went to college but avoiding talk of my lack of a degree. I talked up my previous job experiences even though none of them had anything to do with what I'm doing now. My first day I asked them to take an online course to refresh my skills which they gladly paid for and I basically got a couple days to figure out the software from square one.
I just got my 90 days review and I'm exceeding expectations on all marks. While I enjoy working here it's kinda fucked that if I had been remotely more honest with them I likely wouldn't have the job despite my capability. Regardless, I'm past that now and working a stable job and I actually really enjoy my coworkers and direct superiors. It's just insane how companies look are at resumes despite any job requiring some level of training on how they work even if you are coming from the same industry.
Anyways, just wanted to share. Don't be afraid to take it till you make it.
