Recruiters at current job watching “open for work” status on LinkedIn?

So I recently started working at a new place and within the first week all of the recruiters there sent me requests on LinkedIn. Can't think of a reason for this other than, they want to be able to see if and when my status gets set to Open for Work (aka feel free to message me about job openings). Am I just being paranoid and anti work? Or is this a thing in-house recruiters do? I'm pissed if this is the case because we should have the freedom to safely seek out better opportunities without our livelihood being out at risk at our current job.
