I was working in a job for the last 2 years and went above and beyond all the time. Working 20h overtime a week (UNPAID!), on call for my work so picking up calls at random times like 7am/8pm even though I have a 9-5, working while on PTO. Really I put the company at number 1 in my life and worked as hard as I could.
What do I get in return for all the hard work? Nothing! No bonus, no raise in the last 2 years. Nothing at all.
Recently I made a simple small request. I normally don’t ask for anything and I thought they’ll help me out considering all that I did for them. But they flat out refused it despite all the hard work I did for them.
That made me realise companies do not care about you at all. You work hard for them and you go beyond your role but will get nothing in return for your hard work and when you ask for something, they won’t help you.
