Remote positions hard to come by

I actually don’t mind remote work, but why is remote work encouraged for jobs that are customer service or require bachelor degrees but something as simple as data entry they treat like it’s a top secret government contract? The work I currently do is pure data entry but they require an in-office presence when the pandemic has shown that WFH work is both achievable in mega corporations and that it actually increases productivity. And the funny thing is mega corporations talk about being more “green energy” but require their employees to work in office thus adding more pollutants due forcing their employees to commute.
