So my aunt works at a daycare and has been there for like 20 something years. I was talking to her today and she said she spent the day cleaning out her room at work. I asked why and she said that they are getting new floors put in next weekend so all the employees have to help empty everything out of the daycare this week, after hours and come in on Labor Day to put it all back, all of this will be unpaid. I told her she should definitely be getting paid for it and I would never work for free. She responded with they (the employees) all think so too and originally the owners were going to hire a crew to do it. I said if they aren’t hiring a crew then they should just pay the employees what they were going to pay the crew. I’ll say it again, if you can’t afford to pay your employees then you deserve for your company to go under, the free market will fill the gap you left.
