RN PTO taken if not enough points earned.

My SO is an RN who works full time as an Home Health RN. The schedule is 40 hrs, M-F. This time is entered into a workday type program. Recently, the Co started emphasizing the need to accrue 30 points per week to be considered full time. Points are accrued with patient vists and vary depending on new admits, 3 month orders, or ongoing care etc.. The patient visit schedule is created by the Co. Recently, my SO was told she didn’t earn 30 points in her 40 hour week (due to the patient point mix). The Co reduced her entered hours to 32 and used 8 of the accrued PTO for make 40 hours. My SO is beyond upset and this has messed up our holiday travel plans, as less PTO is available. The Co also hinted that this had to be done to maintain all full time benefits…

I think this is time theft and should be filed with the State Labor Dept. Alas, we live in a deep red Right to Work State and are not overly optimistic.

All this is happening as the local University Hospital system’s RNs are voting for unionized status (would be the 1st health care union in the metro)
