I work in a sales type job in Florida for a company that does 10b+ in sales. We were on salary for awhile and recently they changed us to a comp plan that is 50% salary and 50% goal driven.
The issue is we know we are not getting paid correctly and there is never any follow up or ways to track how we are doing on some of our monthly goals. For example most of us have around 30+ accounts, we get them to buy something we sell and then once that happens there is no way to see 100% of what is sold for the month. We can see what our goal is from the beginning of the month. But lets say your goal is 100 units, you get all 30 accounts to agree to taking some. You dont write the order, the company you sell it to puts it on an auto replenishment type system. So some accounts will sell 2 units a month some will sell 50. The problem is we never know on an account basis how much we are selling durring the month. So you can think you are way over your goal but you are actually 1 unit under and can lose a large portion of your paycheck that month.
You get paid the following month for the previous month, when something doesnt seem right with your paycheck and you request the data from the prior month, no one can ever provide it. Part of our goals are not only unit sales but also financials for units sold, no one can ever give us clarity on auditing these numbers either.
Our July numbers posted last week, for financials i was at 128% (anything over 100% you get a 5% bonus) and for unit sales i was at 148%. All of a sudden when it comes time to draw the paychecks the financials went down to 99.8% (just under having to pay me an extra 5%) and the unit sales dropped to 118%. I know the first numbers were the right numbers, but when you ask for the data they use to determine the monthly sales you can never get all the information. They will give you part of the information but never more thab 50%.
The company has recognised its a flawed system but its new and they are working to fix it. (So they claim)
I have been vocal about this and feel its starting to put a target on my back. Is there anything i can do or it is what it is and find a new job?
