Happened to a coworker not me. The following is a paraphrased text exchange between coworker (C) and our incredibly toxic manager (M). Took place after he’d left for the day:

M: Hey I made a mistake on the schedule I need you to come in for a mid shift instead of a morning shift tomorrow

C: Sorry I already have plans I need to meet with my professor for school.

M: Well I need you to come in for a mid shift

C: Sorry I can’t. I can do a morning shift only, do you still want me to come in for that?

M: I don’t need you for a morning shift, I need you to come in for a mid shift.

This back and forth continued for a while and long story short they both ended up in an HR meeting. The next day the manager just lurked in the office fuming because HR wouldn’t let her fire him.

Then next week’s schedule came out with a notice at the bottom that had never been there before:

“Note: Schedule subject to change at all times based on the needs of the operation”
