I work in a restaurant where management bends the rules a lot as far as actually getting breaks for shifts that are over 7 hours, getting out on time, stuff like that. I noticed I was scheduled this weekend a closing night, 2:45am, and i’m scheduled the next day at 11:30am. In my state, labor laws require every hour i work/an scheduled before 11 hours since my last shift is paid time and a half. I know management isn’t going to care or pay me time and a half for that, but how do I bring up to them that I’m tired of not being properly compensated. often times when i work 7 hours i don’t get a break, and when i do its often after the 5 hour mark. but it’s “just the way a restaurant works” but ive worked in restaurants that function just as smooth and still give everyone proper breaks, hours, and honor clock out times.
