I'm just really frustrated with all of this and I've essentially been told to just get over it.
Ill say that this all started because i struggle with my mental health combined with having no support system in my personal life. Because of the struggles I went to my boss and asked for a change in schedule. One that would give me another day off in the week by working longer on 3 other days. This actually benefits our department as well because we are shirt handed for those 3 hours. Due to breaks ill work 39.5 hrs instead of 40 hrs per week (negligible IMO). I will still work every other weekend as well. This coworker was VERY unhappy with this when the new schedule came out. She doesn't want the schedule, but it isn't fair that I have it.
My coworkers, bosses, and I all agree the screaming was absolutely uncalled for (because….why should anyone be screamed at at work….ugh). But I literally did nothing but answer (with a possible option because she asked “who do you think”) a question she asked and she lost it. Started saying it wasn't fair for me to be a part of certain things (including the new schedule) because she has seniority, I use my kids as an excuse, and I get everything I want. Literally the only accommodation I have asked for is the schedule change. Any time I need for my kids inise PTO….cause that's what it's there for.
I escalated this to HR, which is this giant corporation that oversees just our department in this tiny hospital, so I'm not even hopeful something will be done.
As I said…my direct bosses agree that she was completely out of line….somehow, however, I was told to “wait it out until she was no longer upset” and “it will all blow over”. No consequences for her whatsoever.
I am so sick of the damned politics of working.
