Hi,
I hope you’re all doing well. I wanted to share a recent experience and seek some guidance from this supportive community. I believe that sharing my story can help me gain valuable insights from your perspectives.
I’m 21 years old, currently in university, and have been on quite a rollercoaster lately. I recently found myself in a situation that I didn’t anticipate: getting fired from a sales representative job after just two months. While this was undoubtedly a setback, I want to address it with honesty and a commitment to improvement.
I’ll admit that I understand why I was let go from the job – I wasn’t giving it my best effort, and I allowed myself to become a lazy employee. My manager and I parted ways amicably, and he even agreed to be a reference for me if needed in the future, which I’m grateful for.
Now, I’m at a crossroads and seeking advice on how to move forward. Here are some of the questions I have:
1. Should I continue pursuing similar roles? While I felt that the sales representative position wasn’t the best fit for me, should I give it another shot and strive to improve my work ethic?
2. Should I be completely honest about my previous job on my resume? I was only there for two months, but should I consider extending that duration to six months to appear more stable to future employers?
3. Is it a good idea to provide my previous manager as a reference? Given the short duration of my employment, how should I approach this?
I’m open to any advice or suggestions you might have. I believe in the power of learning from my mistakes and using them as stepping stones to future success. Your insights could be incredibly valuable in helping me chart my path forward.
Thank you in advance for your support and guidance!
