so, i got hired to work at a thrift store. it was in a rather sketchy part of town and seemed a little run down, but it was the first place to offer me an interview or a job, had great hours, and fairly decent pay, so i took it.
first day, everything is smooth and there's no issues. second day, someone pees in the dressing room and i have customers berate me for not having items (because we run off donations so obviously inventory changes all the time). third day, someone ELSE pees in the dressing room and i notice the poor soul who has to clean was not given any PPE and was just given a bucket and a mop.
by my fourth and fifth day i'm getting berated for not doing very minute things, and i got in trouble for not using the right pricing gun despite it being the one i was given on my first day and was never told there were different ones. by the end of the fifth day i get home and notice i have rashes on my arms and recall someone making a passing comment that the store had not been mopped, wiped down, or anything of the sort in MONTHS.
so, i let the store manager know that i quit effective immediately. if after five days i'm getting allergic reactions i figured a two weeks notice could be harmful to my health. the manager of course didn't take it well but he was professional about it which is all i could ask for, however my friends are annoyed with me cause they think i will never get another job and i'm entitled for not doing a two weeks. of course this sucks and i wish i didn't have to do that, but this job will never make it onto my resume and i would rather put my health before any job.
just needed to vent here and get this out, my husband is asleep so i haven't even told him yet (but we did discuss me leaving the job sooner than later and he is 100% supportive) but man, life fucking sucks.
edit to add: i literally got a call for an interview to be a baker today at a grocery store. i've always loved baking and while a grocery store may not be a professional bakery, it's a step in the right direction. things are already looking up!
