So I just got my raise today, it was 5.42%. In the same department and position my coworker got a raise of 7%.
The only differences between us:
– we work on different projects
– he has been working at my job longer he worked through the ranks, I was hired at the same level as him.
– He’s been here 5 years, I’ve been here 1.5
– I am female and he is male
– He has an MBA but I don’t think that really matters at our job and he obtained it while working here
Other considerations:
– We’re in government
– We have the same boss who distributed the increase
– We both work our ass off
– We’ve both been recognized for merit and positive impacts to the department
– Our boss sucks lol
I guess I should be happy with 5% but inflation was 6.5% in 2022… And don’t get me wrong I AM happy for him but I feel a little slighted.
I guess what I’m wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and what your thoughts are!
