sorry, kind of long, but im very annoyed and very conflicted
so i (f21) work as a hostess at chilis. been there a year and it's my first job. i work mornings on fridays, saturdays, sundays, and tuesdays.
tuesdays are the least busiest days, and i usually get sent home early because of that, which doesn't bother me. sundays are the absolute worst. there are only 4 other hosts, so i work alone every day, keep that in mind please. ive also been told my my coworkers and managers (there's 4) that im one of the best/ most helpful hosts they have.
anywho, what does bother me is that friday-sunday it is horrid. we have a full restaurant and usually a full waitlist, and we apparently don't have a designated busser for AM shift, so I end up bussing all the dirty tables myself. the servers are usually too busy to help, which is fine, so i've asked my managers to maybe schedule another host with me on Sundays, so that one of us could buss and another could manage the seating and waitlist.
i figured it wouldn't be an issue since they're able to schedule two hosts for PM shifts every day. butttt they still have me working alone.
last week was the third time i brought it up to them, so this week they did actually schedule someone to work with me, but she was fired a whole week and 1/2 ago. which means i'll still be working alone this Sunday. again. and idk why she's still on the roster if she's gone.
it's fucking exhausting to run around the restaurant bussing 4+ tables in each severs zone at once, adding people to the waitlist, seating other people off the list, and getting drink and dip refills for guests. i need help ffs, and they just dont seem to care. it feels like im being taken advantage of tbh.
sooo my plan is to go to them again on saturday and tell them that if they dont get a busser or bring in another host to help me on sunday, then i wont be coming in that day. period. but idk how well they'll take it
what do yall think? is this a wise move? or should i just accept my fate and go nuts on sundays? im just worried they'll be like “well, if you dont come in, we'll fire you 🙂 “
